O R D E R Mr. M. Sivavarthanan, learned Government Counsel, accepts notice for the respondents.

¶2The petitioner has filed the present writ petition seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the first respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner's representation dated 05.08.2020, wherein the petitioner has sought reclassification of the Nanjai lands situated in various survey numbers of Irungattukottai Village, Sriperumbudur Taluk, Kanchipuram District, from the agricultural use zone to the urbanisable use zone.

¶3According to the petitioner, the subject lands are proposed to be developed for residential purposes. Pursuant thereto, the Page Nos.3/5 petitioner was informed that the power to reclassify the subject lands vests with the first respondent. Hence, the present writ petition.

¶4Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the proposed reclassification is required to be considered under Section 32 of the Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning Act, 1971, read with the relevant Rules framed thereunder.

¶5Learned Government Counsel, on instructions, submits that the petitioner's representation would be considered within the time that may be stipulated by this Court. He further submits that the request shall be examined in accordance with the applicable statutory provisions, including the Tamil Nadu Change of Land Use (From Agriculture to Non-Agricultural Purposes in Non-Planning Areas) Rules, 2017, if found applicable.

¶6Recording the aforesaid submissions, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 05.08.2020 seeking reclassification/conversion of the subject Nanjai lands, on its own merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law.
