ORDER (Order of the Court was made by C.Kumarappan J.) The present writ petition has been filed seeking for a Mandamus to direct the respondents 4 to 6 to cancel the patta granted in favour of the respondents 7 to 18 in S.No.30/1, Chettiar Agaram Village, Chennai – 600 077 and protect the pond situated at S.No.30/1, Chettiar Agaram Village, Chennai – 600 077 and direct the respondents 3 to 6 to remove the illegal encroachments made by the respondents 7 to 18. ¶2Learned Additional Government Pleader has submitted a status report signed by the Tahsildar/6th respondent, wherein it has been stated that as against the respondents 7 to 18, entries are available in Village natham records. However, the Sub-Division Nos.34 to 46 are not available in the computerised natham record and in this regard, the 5th respondent/Revenue Divisional Officer has proposed to conduct an enquiry.

¶3In view of the above submission, we deem it appropriate to direct the 5th respondent to proceed with in accordance with law and to conduct an enquiry by affording opportunity to all the parties concerned and if there is any encroachments found in the water body, the authorities are directed to take appropriate action for removal of the same as expeditious as possible.
