This petition has been filed seeking a direction to Respondents to grant permission and to provide adequate protection to conduct Kabaddi Event at Pasumai ground, Alathudaiyanpatty, Thuraiyur Taluk, Trichirappalli District on 22.08.2026 to 23.08.2026 from
07.00p.m. To 07.00a.m. by considering the petitioner's representation dated 13.08.2026.
¶2Heard both sides.
¶3The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner made a representation on
13.08.2026, seeking permission to conduct a Kabaddi event on
22.08.2026 and 23.08.2026. He further submits that the petitioner had earlier submitted a representation on 10.08.2026, for which the respondent police did not issue any acknowledgement. Therefore, the petitioner sent the same representation on 13.08.2026 by Speed Post. So far, the respondent police have not taken any action on the said representation. Hence, the present writ petition has been filed.
¶4The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that, since the event is scheduled to be held on 22.08.2026 and 23.08.2026, the respondent police may be directed to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner and pass appropriate orders at the earliest, enabling the petitioner to conduct the event as scheduled.
¶5The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the respondents would submit that the petitioner submitted a representation dated 13.08.2026 and the same was pending for enquiry.
¶6On perusal of the records reveal that the present writ petition was presented before this Court on 14.08.2026 and taken on file on 18.08.2026. The Kabaddi event is scheduled to be held on
22.08.2026 and 23.08.2026. Therefore, the petitioner has filed the present writ petition seeking a direction to the respondent police to consider the representation submitted by him.
¶7Since the respondent police have to consider the petitioner's request for permission to conduct the Kabaddi event, the respondent police are directed to consider the petitioner's representation and pass appropriate orders within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
¶8However, it is made clear as the Kabaddi event is scheduled to be held on 22.08.2026 and 23.08.2026, the petitioner is directed to wait for the decision of the respondent police. If permission is granted for the said dates, the petitioner may proceed with the event accordingly. If it is not possible to conduct the event within the short span of time, the petitioner may submit an alternative date to the respondent police for conducting the said Kabaddi event.
¶9With the above said observations, this Writ petition is disposed of.
