Judgment

ORDER The petitioner has filed this writ petition seeking a direction to the sixth respondent to consider his representation dated 12.12.2025. In the said representation, the petitioner requested the sixth respondent to remove the encroachment on the link road, lay a concrete road, and provide access to the petitioner and other residents of the locality. Page3 of 6

¶2The petitioner states that he is residing at Property No. 41, Raja Nagar, Puducherry. According to him, the land on which the house is situated is patta land granted by the Adi Dravidar Welfare Department in the year 2011 in favour of his mother-in-law.

¶3The petitioner further states that the link road, commonly known as the West Road, connecting the First Main Road and the Second Main Road at Raja Nagar, Puducherry, has been encroached upon. As a result, the petitioner and the other residents of the locality have been deprived of access to the main road

¶4By order dated 27.01.2026, this Court observed that it is the duty of the authorities in whom the road vests to remove any encroachments found on the road.

¶5The learned Additional Government Pleader submitted that, pursuant to the said order, the sixth respondent removed the encroachments on 03.02.2026. This submission is not disputed by the petitioner. It is further submitted that a concrete road will be laid after completing the tender process, for which ten months' time was sought. Page4 of 6

¶6The photographs produced by the petitioner show that the encroachments have already been removed and that only the work of laying the concrete road remains.

¶7In view of the above, the sixth respondent is directed to complete the work of laying the concrete road on the link road within a period of six (6) months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

¶8With the above direction, the writ petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. 28-07-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order ak
