¶1This hearing has been done through hybrid mode.
¶2By way of the present petition filed under Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as the 'BNSS'), the petitioners seek quashing of FIR No. 394/2014, registered at Police Station Govind Puri, New Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 323/324/341/506/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereinafter referred to as the 'IPC'), and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, on the basis of the settlement arrived at between the parties.
¶3Issue notice. Learned APP for the State accepts notice.
¶4Respondent Nos. 2 and 3 are present before this Court. Respondent No. The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above. 3, who is present through video conferencing, has been duly identified by her counsel as well as by the Investigating Officer (IO) concerned.
¶5Briefly stated, the present FIR came to be registered on the complaint of Respondent Nos. 2 and 3 in respect of certain disputes between the parties. During the pendency of the proceedings, with the intervention of common friends, relatives and other respectable persons, the parties amicably resolved their disputes and executed a Settlement Deed dated 26.02.2026. Under the said settlement, Respondent Nos. 2 and 3 have stated that they have no surviving grievance, claim or demand against the petitioners and have agreed to cooperate in the quashing of the present FIR.
¶6On a query made by this Court, Respondent No. 3, who is present through video conferencing and has been duly identified by her counsel as well as the IO concerned, states that the parties have amicably settled their disputes vide Settlement Deed dated 26.02.2026. She further states that the settlement has been entered into voluntarily, out of her own free will and without any force, coercion, pressure or undue influence. She has no objection to the quashing of the present FIR and the proceedings emanating therefrom. Respondent No. 2 has also consented to the settlement and has no objection to the quashing of the present FIR.
¶7In view of the fact that the parties have amicably resolved their disputes and the complainants/respondents have no objection to the quashing of the FIR, no useful purpose would be served by continuing the criminal proceedings. Rather, continuation of the proceedings would only perpetuate the disputes and acrimony between the parties. The present case, therefore, warrants exercise of the inherent jurisdiction of this Court to secure the ends of justice. The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.
¶8Accordingly, FIR No. 394/2014, registered at Police Station Govind Puri, New Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 323/324/341/506/34 of the IPC, and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, are hereby quashed.
¶9The present petition is disposed of. Pending application(s), if any, also stand disposed of.
