DISMISSED
Court
High Court of Madras
Decided

Bench

Case no.
WP(MD) 30443/2023

Judgment

ORDER Heard both sides.

2.The petitioner was earlier granted license to collect rents from the shop keepers. The shops have since been demolished. Now pucca buildings are being put up. The petitioner states that he should be given the very same license of collecting rents from the shop keepers.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner reiterated all the contentions set out in the affidavit filed in support of the writ petition.

4.I am not persuaded by the same. As rightly pointed out by the learned Standing Counsel for the Corporation, the petitioner's role can very well be dispensed with. The shops belong to the Corporation. It is the Corporation that has constructed them. The shop keepers can directly remit the rent in the Corporation account. There is no need for any intermediary any more. Therefore, the question of directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation does not arise at all.

5.This writ petition stands dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs.
