ORDER Date : 26-09-2024 Heard Ms. G. Borah, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. R. Borpujari, learned Standing Counsel, Revenue Department for the respondent no. 1 and Ms. M. Bhattacharjee, learned Additional Senior Government Advocate, State of Assam for respondent nos. 2 – 6.

¶2By way of this petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, the petitioner is seeking direction to the respondent authorities to give effect to the selection list published in the official website of Nagaon district on 13.03.2023, whereby, the petitioner had been selected as a Government Gaon Pradhan at Serial No. 11 of the selection list issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Nagaon, Assam; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nagaon, Assam; Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Kaliabor and the Circle Officer, Kaliabor for the village of Siconee Pathar under the Kaliabor Revenue Circle under Chotial Mouza, District of Nagaon, Assam as per the Advertisement no. NRK.31/2022/52 on 05.09.2022.

¶3Today when the matter was moved, Ms. Bhattacharjee, learned Additional Senior Government Advocate for the respondents placed a Correspondence Page No.# 3/3 dated 26.09.2024 received from the office of the District Commissioner, Nagaon, which, upon perusal, it appears that the appointment to the petitioner could not be given as police verification report was not received from the district police authority. It further appears that reminders to the district police authorities have been already issued on 20.03.2023 and 11.03.2024. It further appears that it is the stand of the respondents that upon receipt of the police verification report, appointment shall be issued to the petitioner.

¶4In view of the letter dated 26.09.2024 furnished by the learned Additional Senior Government Advocate, this Court is of the opinion that this writ petition can be disposed of at the motion stage itself by directing the respondent authorities to complete the process of issuing the subsequent appointment order to the petitioner in accordance with law, preferably within 1 (one) month from today.

¶5The petition stands disposed of.
