¶1By the present petition, the petitioner seeks following prayers : a) Issue an appropriate Writ in the nature of "Mandamus" directing the Respondent to decide the application for 2nd spell of furlough within a reasonable time or in alternative direct the Respondent to release the Petitioner on 2nd spell of furlough for the period of 14 days and or; b) Pass any other or such other further orders as this Hon'ble court may deem fit, just and proper in the facts and circumstances of the case and in the interest of justice.

¶2The petitioner is essentially aggrieved that his application This is a digitally signed order. seeking furlough has not yet been decided by the respondent authorities despite almost eight weeks having elapsed.

¶3The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in terms of Delhi Prisons Rules, 2018, an application seeking furlough / parole has to be decided within a period of four weeks and the pendency of the same causes grave prejudice to the convict since the convict is only entitled to be released for a fixed period of days during one conviction year.

¶4Considering the above, the respondent authorities are directed to decide the application seeking furlough filed by the petitioner, within a period of two weeks from date.

¶5No further orders are required to be passed in the present petition.

¶6The present petition is allowed in the aforesaid terms. Pending application also stands disposed of.

¶7Needless to say, the petitioner is at liberty to approach this Court in case any grievance remains in future. AMIT MAHAJAN, J NOVEMBER 20, 2025 'KDK' This is a digitally signed order.
